Tripods and Photography
By Andrew Kelly
Photography enthusiasts often invest in one or more tripods for use whenever they are taking pictures. The use of tripods ensures that pictures will be free of motion blur and that the pictures taken will be crisp, clear, and beautiful. Further, since tripods are fairly inexpensive, many photographers feel that they are fantastic investments that ensure quality photographs.
Tripods are lightweight and many of them fold up small enough so that they can be carried anywhere with ease. Some tripods come with handles for easy portability and several tripod models are equipped with built in levels to ensure that the tripod and camera are on level ground. Further, several tripods on today's market possess and adjustable height geared center column, a mid level leg brace, and a leg locking system that is quickly released.
Tripods come in floor and table top models, making it easy for the photographer to set up and stabilize their camera equipment anywhere. Also, the same tripods that are on the market for digital cameras are also sold for video camera use. Of course, the consumer will need to make sure that the tripod can handle the weight of the video camera in question: if the video camera is larger than a Palmcorder, a heavy duty tripod may be required to handle the weight of the camera. Either way, a digital camera or video camera fits snuggly into a tripod when the included mount bracket is used.
Tripod accessories, like waterproof carrying cases, are often sold separately.
