Hawaii And Plastic Surgery: What Is The Relationship Here?
By M. A. Fulmar
You have all heard of Hawaii and the image neatly tucked in our brains is of golden sandy beaches, breathtaking sunsets, honeymooners, love, beauty, romanticism, perfection. Yes, perfection. It seems that God Almighty has created a little strip of perfection on earth for us mortals to be able to visualize the Heavens and its immense beauty. Hawaii is a place where beauty is the order of the day; where everything is at is should be – the right lighting, the right climate, the right weather, everything perfect. These are the times when you want to be perfect – or as close as you can be to it – yourself. This is the time where you might think about and even consider plastic surgery. This is how Hawaii and plastic surgery get connected in the minds of some people. When I say this, I do not mean only the women but men as well. You will be surprised to learn how much concerned men are with the way they look. They too love a healthy tan, a well-toned body, muscles in the right places, etc. A good number of people choose plastic surgery because they want to look better and feel better about themselves.
Things For you to Consider
Hawaii and plastic surgery match and contrast in the same breath. They match because they both point towards perfection and they contrast because one is natural perfection, which the other is constructed by humans. It is true that the beauty of places such as Hawaii makes plastic surgery necessary in the minds of many people. It is not easy to say 'yes' to go under the scalpel of a plastic surgeon. Nevertheless, I have known many people who are inspired to do so, because they wanted to look perfect in a bikini – and because looking anything less than perfect would have marred the impeccable picture that the place projects in their mind.
This is why plastic surgery in Hawaii is a very prosperous business. People come for a vacation and also use the time there to perfect some parts in their bodies they wanted. It is all in the mind, you would say and I could not agree with you more. Nonetheless, Hawaii and plastic surgery combination is here to stay. Since we are on the topic, let us learn a few facts regarding plastic surgery.
1. There are two major types of plastic surgery, (i) cosmetic surgery and (ii) reconstructive surgery.
2. Insurance normally does not pay for cosmetic surgery, but accepts the bills incurred by reconstructive surgery.
3. The main difference between these two types of surgery is that one is voluntary (cosmetic) and the other is recommended by a doctor (reconstruction). In other words, the cosmetic surgery is something you can do without (medically speaking), while the reconstruction surgery is required from a medical point of view.
4. You should always insist that you are treated only by a certified plastic/cosmetic surgeon. The certification is received from the following bodies:
a. Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care or AAAHC
b. American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities or AAAASF
c. Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care or JCAHO
