Romantic Getaways: A Vacation For Two

Many older people consider the romantic getaway to be the domain of younger couples and fail to see that a romantic getaway enjoyed by a couple that have shared their love for a great many years is likely to be far more romantic than one experienced by a couple that have not long met. In fact taking a second honeymoon can renew your love for each other especially if you choose a destination known for it's romance.

Cities such as Paris are referred to as romantic for a number of reasons. For those living in Europe, Paris is an ideal place to enjoy a romantic weekend. Fast rail links and other aspects of the location make it easily accessible to most in France and and beyond. Love stories, such as the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the arts and culture all come together to create an atmosphere conducive to love and romance. So much so that myself and my wife chose it for our honeymoon and I can assure readers that the vacation was thoroughly enjoyed by both of us.

Many enjoy a romantic getaway visiting a destination far away but find themselves spending most of their time in their luxury hotel room instead. Many hotels have honeymoon suites and other rooms that have been designed for this exact purpose! I prefer to get out and about to experience the life and culture of historic cities. There is something really special in sharing your time with your loved one, together you can be alone even in a large crowd.

In even the best relationships, there comes a time when the both of you need to spend some time, together, alone. Taking a romantic getaway together will give you both time away from yours jobs, the kids and other stresses of life. You would want to choose a destination with an atmosphere that exudes romance. This could be somewhere tropical, somewhere quiet or somewhere the two of you have been before (or even the opposite!).

Such vacations need not be expensive, a quick visit to your local travel agent will prove to you that there are many bargains available. Your travel agent will be able to furnish you with a selection of travel brochures that cater for the romantic getaway niche. Take your time choosing a handful and pop back to the travel agency where you should be able to barter a little to get yourself a very cheap deal.

Getting An Affordable Romantic Getaway

Finding a travel agency is easy, just open your phone book you will find a section on travel agencies. When you have chosen your destination call a few of them, or even all of them, and ask them if any romantic getaways are coming up. Let the travel agent know where you would like to go, what dates you had in mind BUT do NOT let them know how much you have to spend. This is VERY important as you want them to do all of the leg work for you in looking for the cheapest and best available that meets your needs. If you tell them how much you have to spend they will settle on offering you only those available at that price or even a little higher and avoid offering you a cheaper alternative. This is because all travel agencies receive a percentage of the cost as commission so it is in their interest to get the most cash form you!

When they have a selection of deals take the full details of them and call another travel agent. This time go through the same process to see if they offer the same vacations at a cheaper price. If they fail to do this tell them that you are able to get the same deal elsewhere. Pause for a moment then ask if they could supply you with their best deal and you might be pleasantly surprised at their offer.

Even Better "Best Deals"

If you are not happy with the deals offered or you are looking for a really cheap romantic getaway just repeat the process. Collect all the details, accommodation type, destination etc. together with the total price and then visit a third travel agency. Remember that it is only fair to give the first agency the chance to better the price so call back to them and let them know what the others have offered. I am sure that they will try to better this still further.

Do not be afraid to do this as it is easy and they are used to people doing it.
