Most households today have at least one TV set and many homes have two or more. Cable TV has been around for many years and is established in most communities. Most cable companies deliver excellent service and they work hard to keep programming at its best. Why would anyone want to leave cable for a satellite TV system? There are probably many reasons why the consumer changes to satellite. One reason is the reliability of satellite TV. Unless a satellite falls out of the sky, there isn't much else to go wrong.

The only other thing that happens is it may lose its reception with a heavy cloud cover temporarily, or in high winds the dish may move slightly causing lost reception. Having a satellite TV system allows for better picture quality and more programming choices than cable. Satellite TV allows one to program shows without the use of TiVo devices. This is very convenient for today's fast paced families that are constantly on the go. Premium channels are easily available with a satellite TV system. Satellite is now a dependable way to watch TV and more people switch over to satellite everyday.

The Cost Of A Satellite TV System

One of the biggest complaints about satellite TV is the up front cost for having it installed. Every installer business charges different rates. Only the most basic installations are free. Everything else needed will cost the consumer. This includes extra rooms to be set up. Also, the consumer has to pay for the receivers for the satellite TV system. If the consumer wants to subscribe to a high definition satellite TV system, there will be certain costs associated with it. In order to watch something in high definition, the consumer needs a different receiver made for high definition.

These receivers can cost over five hundred dollars. It is expensive to upgrade to high definition. The consumer also has to take into consideration that the TV also must be high definition capable. Many of the new TV's are expensive and that can take its toll on a family living with a budget. One thing that is positive about high definition is that the picture is so clear that it looks like the show is in ones house. Lastly, each family must decide what is right for them. For some families the cost of satellite may be prohibitive.
