A Great Speed Reading Program
By Alexandra MacLeod

Speed reading is something that you have probably only heard about, or even haven't heard of before. However, it can be something that is very useful to you in the world today, especially in this fast paced world of high tech gadgets, where you have to be highly educated and motivated to be a success.

What Is Speed Reading?

A Speed reading program allows you to read books and other printed materials much faster than you were previously able to. This is great news for people who depend on reading materials as part of their everyday life and also great news for people who are very slow readers and wish to change this.

A speed reading program will allow you to learn to look at the word, instead of the individual letters. A speed reading program mostly likely is going to train your brain to recognize words in one glance, instead of reading the words letter by letter like you may have been taught to do while in school.

There are many different types of speed reading programs that you can use to increase your reading speed. Some of them focus on looking at words as one single unit, not just letters that make up the word. Also, some speed reading programs will help the reader look at entire sentences in that way, and be able to see the meaning of a sentence without having to spend time reading each individual word. If you can learn how to do this, then, with a speed reading program, you can begin to help yourself become a faster reader, who isn't as dependant on different words and even on different letters, in order to make sense of what they are reading.

Good and Bad Ideas

Remember that speed reading programs offer both good and bad consequences. First of all, you will be able to read much faster, which is a good thing because you will be able to comprehend things more easily, and you will also be able to get more done. However, it might be a negative thing for you because it is always a possibility that you are going to skim pages and therefore not get as in depth as an idea as you would like to about a certain paragraph or page of written work. No matter why you decide to use a speed reading program, you have to weigh the benefits with the negative consequences and make sure that it is a good idea for you.
