There are many stop smoking pills available though the Pfizer drug seems to be most effective and is believed to help one in five smokers to give up the habit, and has recently received Federal approval. Varenicline is just the second stop smoking pill to get the approval of the Food and Drug Administration and Pfizer Inc. has plans to sell this twice a day tablet by the name of Chantix.

Chantix may also have greatest value for smokers that have tried out other stop smoking pills, and yet have been unable to quit smoking.

The beauty of this stop smoking pill (Chantix) is that it latches onto the same receptors within the brain as are bound by nicotine that is inhaled from smoking, and it helps to block dopamine in the pleasure centers of the brain and thus prevents reinforcing the effect. In addition, Chantix also slows the dopamine release and thus reduces or eliminates to a great degree, the craving to smoke which occurs when the effect of nicotine wears off.

This stop smoking pill acts like a shield while also stabilizing as well as preventing smokers from having lows that cause a renewed craving to smoke again.
