Laser Surgery for Stretch Marks: Expensive but Effective

Currently, laser surgery is one of the most popular methods in the treatment of stretch marks. However, it may be useful to note that laser surgery for stretch marks is not able to remove stretch marks; rather, they help to fade the marks. This may be due to the fact that laser responds to colors of a dark nature, and thus makes it especially useful to effectively treat stretch marks that are dark red or brown in color. It also means that laser surgery for stretch marks would not be as effective when treating stretch marks that are faded or flesh-colored, because they cannot be easily detected by the laser.

Laser surgery for stretch marks is not available on many health insurance programs and being expensive, does not attract as many users as do less expensive treatments. As the patient will require a number of treatments before obtaining visible results, it does mean that one has to shell out a tidy sum of money before the marks fade or are eliminated.

In spite of the high costs, laser surgery for stretch marks is still considered to be the most effective method of removing stretch marks, but it is still not a 100 per cent effective. Even then, the other treatment methods are not any better, and lasers do help to break down as well as vaporize the tissue, but is still not able to repair the affected tissues. And, laser surgery for stretch marks can have an even greater and more positive effect, if it is used in conjunction with other treatments.

Even though there are many detracting factors, there are specialists who do claim that laser surgery for stretch marks can release energy in the layers of skin that are affected, and so regenerate the production of collagen. Also, laser surgery for stretch marks is a painless method and patients need not be anesthetized, and may in fact, only feel a tingling sensation when the laser pulses their skins.

The results one obtains are progressive and will be different for different patients, and the vast majority that has tried laser surgery for stretch marks reported impressive results as a consequence. One may also get better results with the use of stretch mark creams before as well as after the treatment.

Probably the biggest impediment to getting laser surgery for stretch marks done is the price, but for best results, one must go to a specialized clinic and expect to pay as much as $3000 for the treatment, depending on the number of sessions attended.
