Mustela Stretch Mark Cream: Can It Live Up To its Claims?
By M. A. Fulmar
Lots of women have them - stretch marks serve as a constant reminder that we're not as young and fit as we used to be. The proliferation of beauty companies that market products designed to fade or eradicate these unsightly stripes is proof that some women are willing to open their pocketbooks time and again in hopes of regaining their youthful skin.
Many of these products lay claim to complete eradication of stretch marks. There are absolutely no topical products that will purge stretch marks. The only way to abolish them is to surgically remove the affected skin such as a "tummy tuck" procedure. Multiple examples can be found of products that promise to prevent stretch marks. This is simply not possible in every case. Several factors contribute to the occurrence of stretch marks and one of the biggest is heredity. If your skin is well moisturized and hydrated, it will stretch more easily without tearing, which is essentially what a stretch marks is- a tear. This seems to be the thread of truth that advertisers use to make these claims.
One top company in this market is Mustela. They are based in France and have been marketing their brand of beauty products for more than 50 years.
What do Mustela Stretch Mark Cream Customers Have to Say?
Many of the opinions expressed by Mustela stretch mark cream users were not positive. Although most enjoyed the scent of the product, they were disappointed that Mustela stretch mark cream did not live up to the promises made by the company. The ads claim to “Prevent the appearance of stretch marks" and go on to encourage consumers to continue using Mustela stretch mark cream on stretch marks that may appear after delivery for two to three months, therefore encouraging prolonged use of their product.
What Makes Mustela Stretch Mark Cream Special?
Mustela stretch mark cream does not claim to be all natural; instead it uses scientifically created ingredients to draw attention to its product. The ingredients list is interesting in that it lists water as the highest content ingredient, which is fairly common, but its second ingredient is lactic acid. The ads also list ingredients such as elastoregulator, lupeol, AHA moisturizers, softening oils and chlorophycea extract.
Mustela Stretch mark cream is moderately priced at $34 to $37 and is readily available through several companies on the internet. It seems that the aggressive marketing techniques of Mustela stretch mark cream do not sit well with American women. Mustela might do better in the States if it changed it's approach from trying to bedazzle consumers with unpronounceable, unknown ingredients and unrealistic claims and just honestly advertise it's product as an excellent moisturizer with a pleasant scent that is useful in fading stretch marks.
