Some of the Ways to Remove Pregnancy Stretch Marks
By M. A. Fulmar
For most women, nothing is as exciting or joyous as when they first discover they are pregnant. It is a time for planning, nesting and overall, looking forward to the arrival of the little one growing inside of them. Pregnancy is a spectacular process, but it can come with a price.
For some women, it may be hard for their body to return to normal after a pregnancy. They may have excess weight, and stretch marks hanging on during and after pregnancy.
There are ways, however, to reduce, or remove pregnancy stretch marks. Listed below are some options for women who are looking to do this.
Facts on Stretch Marks
When weight is gained, the collagen that makes up the skin tissue in our bodies stretches to support the added weight. If the skin is not elastic enough, the tissue with then tear, causing streaks across the area of the body where the weight was put on. For most pregnant women, stretch marks appear on the thighs, buttocks, hips and breasts, and almost all pregnant women experience some sort of stretch marks.
Removing Stretch Marks
Most dermatologists and OB/GYN's will advise pregnant women that their stretch marks will usually fade 12 months after giving birth. But, for those women who want to remove pregnancy stretch marks even more quickly, there are a few options to consider.
One way to remove pregnancy stretch marks is to consult with your doctor regarding a special topical cream, Trentinoin, to put on the marks. This cream is highly recommended for severe stretch marks, and reduces their appearance significantly. This type of ointment must be applied right after birth, and cannot be used during pregnancy, or if breastfeeding.
Another option to remove pregnancy stretch marks is to consider some form of plastic surgery. Microdermabrasion is a way to reduce the signs of stretch marks. This type of "sanding" of the outer stratum of skin gets rid of the dead cells, and stimulates new collagen and elastin formation. If the majority of your stretch marks are located on the lower abdomen, then a tummy tuck is a good way to completely remove pregnancy stretch marks, as well as excess fat and skin from that area.
Whatever you choose, there should be a way to reduce the sight of stretch marks. Although to remove pregnancy stretch marks completely may be a far cry, it is worth it to at least help them fade away.
