They were first made popular by rock musicians and continued to gain popularity with Hollywood movies such as Top Gun.

They eventually were made in such abundance that many different companies now make them. They aren't a fad either. The US Military issues aviator sunglasses to all aircrew members. They are as well known to military aviators as the traditional leather flight jackets. People can purchase aviator sunglasses almost anywhere sunglasses are sold. People can spend hundreds on them or as little as twenty dollars.

They can also be purchased online at many retailers and auctions. They stay in style because of the rugged yet handsome lines and the forever cool looks. These glasses are excellent for all around use and many people wear them driving and many other activities. The lenses were originally made with glass and the military glasses are still made with glass. Also, the military aviator sunglasses are quite heavy compared to other styles and makes of sunglasses.

Why Aviator Sunglasses

There are many types of sunglasses available to people today that one might wonder why people still wear aviator sunglasses. Generally speaking, they allow more light to the sides of the eyes than other styles. Glare always seems to be a problem with these also. Unless people buy a high dollar pair of glasses, many of the cheaper pairs don't even fit well on the bridge of the nose.

People buy and wear aviator sunglasses because they look good. If ever there were a certain style developed to function and work, the aviator is that style. As long as people continue to go outside and the sun continues to shine, people will wear sunglasses and many of those people wearing sunglasses will have on aviator sunglasses. Americans have always wanted more from any product that has been made.

That's what makes commerce evolve. The free spirit of the entrepreneur always develops products to be better or to fill a niche that previously were not around. Someday the aviator sunglasses will be reworked as well and become something better. Lastly, whatever pair of sunglasses people choose to wear one needs to make sure that they are safe for the activities of that person. Safety should be more important than looks but people have found the perfect glasses when they look great and they are also safe.
