Swimming In the Pool for Good Health
By Linda Rogers

Everyone knows that exercise is important for good health. Most people are busy and find it difficult to find the time to exercise. Others may not have enough discipline to make the time to work out. A lot of people know that exercise is important but still don't do it. One way to begin to overcome this problem is finding a sport or activity that people can do that is fun and enjoyable. This makes it easier to begin the process. This being said, it sometimes becomes very difficult to complete because the brain is saying that it doesn't want the body to exercise right now. Once someone can get past the mental wall, find something fun and get to it. If there is a pool close by, try swimming in the pool. This is something that can develop as exercise is often easier in the pool. Swimming in the pool is an excellent way to lose weight and get into better shape. One thing is that it is easy to stay cool when exercising because the people are in water.

Also, swimming in the pool is easy on the joints and body parts. If people have back or knee or any other area of the body that hurts, the water lifts up most of the weight and is comforting. Sometimes starting a workout in a pool is as easy as just walking around. Basically, just be active in the water.

Some things to Watch out For

When people decide to work out in the water, they should first check with a doctor. Even though most people aren't going to be swimming a mile a day in the pool, it is still important to first check with the doctor. Swimming in the pool alone just shouldn't be done. If something happens and someone needs help, there will not be anyone around to help. Especially in the beginning, swimming in the pool should just be a light workout. Trying to over do a workout will make it harder to continue into the future. The thought of going back into the pool won't be as enjoyable the second time. Slowly begin to expand the workout through time and eventually the pounds will begin to come off. Watch out however to not become overheated while exercising. If people become overheated, the pool water won't be cooling on the skin. What will happen is that people will perspire in the water and actually become dehydrated.
