Finding a unique valentine's gift gets harder and harder every year. If you are buying for the same person year after year, it can be a real chore to come up with a gift that will spark your lover's interest and rekindle the romance.

Every February, the stores are clogged with cheesy gifts and sappy sayings plastered on everything from coffee mugs to cup cakes. Desperate, you waste hours reading rows of cards and browsing through stores to find just one more perfect gift. This year, put an end to the madness and create your own unique valentine's gift.

Some Starter Ideas

The whole idea is to make your Valentine's gift unique, so try to put your own spin on these ideas if possible.

Create your own love coupons and chore coupons, redeemable at any time for some lovin' attention or get out of jail free pass for that dreaded household chore. If your lover likes a particular television program or spots event, make up a coupon for a session alone with the TV for that time frame.

Meanwhile, you take the kids and the family dog out for ice cream. Buy a flavored body lotion and attach a love coupon to the bottle.

Does your sweetie hate scooping the poop after walking the dog? Give them a coupon for an excuse to get out of it and tie it on the door where you keep the necessary baggies and supplies. Try to personalize your coupons as much as possible.

Create corny matching t-shirts with your picture on them. Even if you only wear them to bed, they'll make you smile. Try not to push wearing them in public unless your mate has a wacky sense of adventure and a great sense of humor. The idea is to make them smile, not embarrass them.

One unique Valentine's gift would be a hand written poem using the letters in your lover's first name as the first letters in each line. This a fairly simple technique and doesn't require a lot of skill or rhyming ability on your part.

Choose a candy bouquet instead of the traditional box of chocolates and flowers. Many towns have specialty stores or party supply centers that carry selections of candy bouquets. If you're feeling adventurous, you can buy your sweetie's favorite candy bars, and get the sucker sticks from a candy making supply store, glue on the sticks, arrange them in a pot with crafting foam in their favorite color and you have your own hand made unique valentine's gift to give your lover on Valentine's Day!
