Valentine Box Ideas For Your Child's School Party

Every child wants to have the best valentine's box for the class party at school. So what's a craft-impaired parent to do? Don't worry, try to emphasize having fun instead of perfection and read on for a few ideas for Valentine's boxes for your child.

Go Simple

You can tape up an old heart shaped box of chocolates, after eating the chocolates of course, cut a slot for the Valentine's to enter and let your child decorate the outside by gluing on those little message hearts, glitter or hearts cut out of construction paper.

Go Natural.

Ideas for Valentine's boxes can come from things around you. This time of year, it's common to long for spring. Use the opportunity to make your own pot of geraniums or other favorite flower.

You can make the flowers from tissue paper or buy silk. Use pipe cleaners for stems and glue on a few fake leaves. Cover the top of the flower pot with a sturdy, painted cardboard with a slot for the cards, and poke your stems through, secure with a knot or strong tape and you're all set!

You can even glue moss onto the cardboard cover to make it more realistic. For real oomph, use brightly colored tissue paper or make the flowers oversized.

Get It From The Horse's Mouth.

Be sure to ask your child if they have any ideas for their Valentine's box. Children are naturally creative; they may come up with a real winner.

One idea for a simple Valentine's box is the old stand by mailbox. By cutting up cardboard sections, securing from the inside with duct tape and leaving a slot in the front the Valentine's, you can have a box in a jiffy.

Let your child paint it blue or their favorite color using acrylic of temper paints. Then let them go wild with the little decorations like candy hearts, streamers or tissue paper flowers on the outside. You can even get creative a rig up a cardboard flap in the front supported with a little string that allows the children to open the door to insert the cards.

Being un-crafty doesn't mean that you can't come up with simple, great ideas for your child's Valentine's box. You can always steal an idea from a magazine or online. After all, there's nothing new under the sun.
