VOIP carriers allow you to make calls to someone else who has the same types of VOIP carriers that you have, but they will also allow you to make calls, with the right software and programs, to people with other VOIP carriers and to people who don't have VOIP on their computers. Some VOIP carriers will also allow you to make calls to someone who isn't even on a computer. You will be able to call landlines or cell phones with certain VOIP carriers, it just depends on what carrier you have.

What Is This Used For?

Many companies use VOIP carriers in order to have the software on their computers so that their employees can make phone calls from heir computers. This allows you to be able to call anyone you'd like right from your computer. For a business, this is ideal because it means that you don't have to be in a certain room, just at your computer. Everyone can talk together on conference calls. This works well especially for people who have wanted to work a bit more from home. They can use the services of the VOIP carriers that their company has to call the office and talk to others right from their home computer. Also, with some VOIP carriers you have the freedom of being able to call any computer in the world, without worrying about costs.

Many of the VOIP carriers offer free services to people. Those VOIP carriers that charge simply charge for the program, and then you can use it for free. This allows you to save a lot of money on long distance. Even if you have one of the VOIP carriers that charges for each call you make, the charge is still going to be much, much lower than a land line phone, and it is going to be much easier than a cell phone because there are no minutes to worry about with most of the VOIP carriers. This is truly something that can enhance your business and help you to grow.
