Vacation Destinations in Wales
Wales is described by their official tourist board as the "Little Big Country" and few would argue that the landscape is anything but awe inspiring. Often mentioned in the top lists of most beautiful beaches in Great Britian is Three Cliffs Bay, Gower peninsula, Swansea, Wales (pictured left). The bay has a number of beaches which are interlinked at low tide giving the appearance of one huge and spectacular beach. The coastline of South and West Wales abounds with gorgeous coves and beaches ever popular with tourists.
Wales is a beautiful country which has a total of three national parks (the Brecon Beacons, Pembrokeshire Coast and Snowdonia) and four Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (the mentioned Gower Peninsula, Anglesey, the Clwydian Range and the Wye Valley). However it would, at times, appear that the whole of Wales is an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The main cities in Wales are Cardiff (the capital), Newport and Swansea. As well as these three cities two other areas also have city status, Bangor and St David's. Most of the country's population can be found in these areas as the majority of Wales is sparcely populated countryside.
