The Importance of a Good Aquarium Tap Water Purifier
By Tony Cunningham
If you are an amateur aquarium buff, you might be left wondering many times regarding your totally healthy fish, they are dying within a few days after buying them. Even after you're assured by the aquarium fish salesperson that everything is fine, your fish still die suddenly for no perceivable reason.
The answer could be pollution – just as human beings suffocate and die (in extreme conditions) when they have to breathe in poisonous/ polluted/ contaminated air, fish also die when they have to swim and breathe in polluted waters.
Your Tap Water Could Be Poison for Your Fish
Sometimes, human beings adjust their immunity system levels to the degree of pollution (this, of course, is in limited degrees) in the water; yet other times our system reacts and we fall violently sick. Tap water, therefore, is not always safe for human beings, let alone aquarium fish which are extremely sensitive to any and all changes in their environs.
Now, picture this – the aquarium fish swimming happily in the shop, you buying them and bringing them home and then plunging them in hopelessly polluted water (invisible to the naked eye). It is no surprise that the fish die within a few days from putting them in this contaminated water. The reason for their death would could surely be the terribly polluted water to which they were suddenly exposed.
The Role of an Aquarium Tap Water Purifier
In order to ensure that your pet fish live, you will need to give them pollutant-free aquarium water. Exotic fish react strongly even to the slightest contamination of the water. The most common pollutants found in tap water would be chlorine (with which the water is sometimes treated with to make it drinkable for human beings), bleach (used for the same reasons), minerals (depending upon the water table and the sources that feed it), chemical pollutants (resulting from industrial waste that reaches the water table) and lastly, metal and salt traces.
You have two choices to make the water feasible for the fish. Firstly, you can use a very good aquarium tap water purifier, or you can leave the water stagnate for at least 48 hours before using it for your aquarium. Both the aquarium tap water purifier and the ‘stand-by' methods ensure that the pollutants leave the water by the time the fish are introduced to it. Among these two, the aquarium tap water purifier is definitely more advantageous because it gives you the required water almost instantly.
Unlike the stand-by method, the aquarium tap water purifier can also assure that the pollutants are totally removed from the water by the time the fish are transferred to your home aquarium.
