Get Safe Water in the Outdoors with a Camping Water Purifier
By Tony Cunningham

Water is the medium through which a majority of diseases and germs can be passed on from the environment to the human system. This is why it is imperative that the water that we drink be safe from harmful micro-organisms and other harmful contents. At home there would be sufficient methods (and filters) to ensure that the water that we drink is pure. However, what can be done regarding the potability of the water while we are on the move or during camping?

Simple Ways to Ensure the Purity of Water While Camping

There are many camping water purifiers that can do an excellent job in this aspect. The best and most popular ways to purify water while on the move is with the help of:

1. UV camping water purifiers. This is the most convenient and fast water purification methods available to date. The advantage of this style of water purification lies in the fact that it sterilizes all the harmful micro-organisms with the help of the UV light, making the water potable almost instantly. While its efficiency will get reduced if repeatedly applied to a water container due to the build up of the contaminants; in ordinary conditions, the purification is excellent for a few times during travel or camping.

2. Camping water purifiers with activated carbon. This is a novel idea of water purification which uses the property of the carbon to attract and absorb all materials for the purification of the water. Here the activated carbon comes with positively charged ions, which attract the negatively charged ions of the pollutants existent in the water, thus clearing the water of all contaminants.

3. Camping water purifiers with the help of iodine. It is easy to get water purified by applying a few drops of iodine to the water before consuming it. This is not a ground breaking discovery; rather a very easy way of applying the properties of this compound to the goal of getting pure drinking water. Adding about 2 per cent of iodine to the water would make the water potable in about 30 minutes or so.

4. Camping water purifier with the help of liquid chlorine bleach. This is very similar to the iodine camping water purifier; it works on the same principle, i.e. kill the harmful bacteria and germs and get the water purified and ready for drinking in a matter of three minutes or so.
