How Does an Ozone Water Purifier Work?
By Tony Cunningham

Ozone is chemically represented by the symbol O3 where O stands for oxygen and 3 stands for the number of molecules it binds. The normal oxygen that is found in the air we breathe, is written symbolically as O2 - and it means that it has only two molecules of oxygen. The smell of ozone is very distinct as you might have experienced every now and then after a thunder storm; i.e. the scent of total fresh air that stays after the storm is the smell of ozone.

The Ozone Water Purifier Is One of the Most Reliable Ways to Purify Water

The purification of water through ozone is a very complex process by which ozone is created artificially, bound to the water in the form of bubbles and then used to totally purify the water in question. The explanation given below will suffice as one meant for a lay person. Since the ozone consists of three oxygen molecules, one is always unstable. This instability comes in handy when it is used in making one of the safest ozone water purifiers which has ozone passed through contaminated water for purification.

Here, the extra oxygen gets busy contacting and binding themselves to the harmful bacteria, viruses and other stuff present in the water, making the water pure and safe for drinking in no time. The single oxygen particle can destroy any amount of bacteria/viruses/micro-organisms by simply getting attached to them and then oxidizing them.

The ozone water purifier has an ozone generator which provides as much ozone as needed. In the nature, ozone is created with the help of the ultra violet rays of the sun. In the ozone water purifier the ozone is created in a similar fashion, created artificially by human beings, with the help of ultra violet rays produced by a chamber in the ozone water purifier. There is a fixed amount of compressed air which is forced into the “ozone generator” which with the help of UV rays gets transformed into ozone.

Now the newly formed ozone is channelized into another chamber where it becomes ozone-saturated bubbles which are in turn passed through water “charging” it. This water enters the water purification tank, where all the impurities are removed as explained a little while ago. The way the ozone cleans the water of its impurities is an excellent and fool proof way of purification of water.
