Destination "I Do": A Beach Wedding Invitation
By Barbara Kelly

Do you love the surf, sand and sun? The sound of waves crashing on the shore? If you are an avid beach lover, then why not spend the happiest day of your life at the place that makes you the happiest? Many couples choose to have their big day on the shores of a local beach. Some go even farther by getting married in tropical paradises such as Hawaii, Florida, or the Bahamas. Your guests will be thrilled to receive a beach wedding invitation.

Fun in the Sun

If you decide to make the beach the theme for your wedding, why not go all the way and design a beach wedding invitation? You can go to your local stationary store to select an invitation that best reflects the beach. Perhaps you want an ocean scene with dolphins zipping through the waves. Or maybe you'd rather depict a sun setting over the serene water. Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong with a lovely beach scene on your beach wedding invitation.

You also have the option of hand making a beach wedding invitation. This will allow you to have further say in all aspects of the design of the invitation and create a card that is uniquely you. To begin, go to your local craft store and pick up some craft supplies that you can use to make your beach wedding invitation. You might want to use ribbon, beach stickers, beach stamps—you could even sprinkle some sand on the invitation! The possibilities are endless when you take matters into your own hands.

Save the Date

When you are sending out a beach wedding invitation, it is a good idea to get it in the mail earlier than you would a normal education if you are asking that guests travel to the wedding destination. The guests will need adequate time to clear their schedules and make travel arrangements. You should also send a “save the date” card before you send the beach wedding invitation. Make sure to mention the date location, and information regarding the accommodations for the wedding. Your guests will thank you if you include this information on your beach wedding invitation!

No Need to Impress

Typically, attire at a beach wedding is less formal than at a regular wedding. With the wind, sand, and water, it isn't practical to expect guests to wear the fanciest clothes they own. On the beach wedding invitation, make sure to state the type of attire that people should have. You can write “dressy casual” or “informal;” this will be very helpful to your guests.
