Do I Need a Separate Wedding Reception Invitation?
By Barbara Kelly
Weddings are a very happy, busy and stressful time as you have many things that you need to decide on, deal with and ensure that they are done the right way so, the most special day in your life is perfect. Wedding invitations are one of the first things that you will decide on when planning your wedding as they are the way you will let your friends and family know about your big day.
There are a few ways in which you can plan your wedding reception invitation; let us explore them all and hopefully it will help you in making your decision.
The Choice of Wedding Reception Invitation
The wedding reception invitation can be part of the ceremony invitation when it is made brief, clear and to the point. However, if you plan to have a prologue as well as personalize your ceremony invitation you may want to keep the reception invitation separate.
When you make a separate wedding reception invitation, ensure it is clear and explicit not only of the date, time and place but also of the directions to get to the place where the reception is being held. Information for RSVP must be included at the bottom with a phone number.
The wedding reception invitation does not have to go out in a separate envelope, which means it will cost you more money in postage. You can include it in the wedding invitation but as a separate piece of paper so that the guests can carry it along for directions without ruining the main wedding invitation which most friends and relatives like to keep as remembrance.
Helpful Tips
The wedding reception invitation does not need any fancy design, prologue or special wording, as it will only confuse guests in the process. All you want to convey is clear information of where and when the reception will take place. You don't need to mention the dress code in most cases, as it is almost always formal for weddings.
If you have the wedding reception in the same place where the ceremony is being held you don't have to make a separate invitation for it but can mention it on the wedding invitation because all the relatives and friends will already be there and don't need any further directions.
Wedding invitations are in themselves gifts that most friends and family will cherish. Therefore, take a minute and make them so it represents you both as well as provides your guests with something to admire and treasure for a long time.
