Planning a Special Wedding Night
By Barbara Kelly

After a successful wedding ceremony and reception the bride and groom are more than ready for time alone. Keeping the wedding night special is very important; this will be the first alone time as man and wife and it should be very memorable and extraordinary. Thoughtful planning will ensure the wedding night is a success. There are some basic ideas that can keep the night special for the bride and groom.

One thing for the couple to keep in mind when planning the wedding night is what time they expect to be done with the reception. It would not be very special to get done with the reception late in the evening and then have a long commute to a hotel or resort. A good idea is to plan to spend the wedding night within a reasonable distance of the reception location. Even if the couple is planning a honeymoon abroad, spending the first night near the wedding locale will make for a better experience.

Choosing the Right Place

There are many hotels that offer honeymoon suites. These hotels will take special steps to provide a special atmosphere for the couple. Sometimes they will have a complimentary bottle of champagne in the room along with some special chocolates or other treat. Ask the hotels in the area what the accommodations are for a honeymooning couple. The couple may appreciate a hotel which offers room service for meals. After a long wedding day it is nice to relax together and have a small bite to eat. The wedding night should be quiet and relaxing. Another nice amenity in the honeymoon suite is a whirlpool tub or Jacuzzi. Many couples find this makes the wedding night more special.

If a hotel is not to the couples liking there are other options for the wedding night. A nice mountain cabin would make for a special night. Most mountain cabins offer quiet seclusion which would enhance the night. Another idea for the wedding night is to simply spend the night in the couples home or apartment. While this may seem out of the ordinary it may offer the most relaxing atmosphere for the first night together. The money saved on the cost of the room can be spent on special food, drinks, and negligees. All you then need to do is to unplug the phone and put a do not disturb sign on the front door.
