Wedding Poems Express Love and Devotion
By Barbara Kelly
Weddings are about love, devotion and commitment between a couple who want to express these sentiments in front of friends and family. Everything about a wedding is special. The bride and groom spent many years before they found a mate to love and honor. They usually take great pains to make this day a very special occasion. They choose the finest clothes to wear when they say their vows. They look for the perfect setting in a church or on a beach. The bride and groom plan a special reception afterward to celebrate with their loved ones.
In the course of the wedding planning and wedding day, there are great occasions for wedding poems that express the important sentiments involved in a wedding. The wedding poems could be those between just the bride and groom that express their feelings in the most romantic ways. Some of the most magnificent poems by the greatest poets are poems about love, devotion and commitment. Edgar Allan Poe wrote great love poems to the love of his life as did William Shakespeare. Sometimes wedding poems are borrowed from some of the greatest poets of all time.
Wedding Poems Last Forever
Wedding poems usually last forever because the writers and the readers provided these poems for a special occasion. There are times at bridal showers that the friends of the bride might compose a poem to tell of the life and love of their good friend who is getting married. These wedding poems are sometimes humorous, and sometimes they are eloquent. They could be said to chide the bride or remind all of the people of the bond of friendship that they share.
The toast at the wedding dinner is a very special speech that gives insight into the love of the bride and groom. This speech usually mentions how close the couple is to the rest of the people who are there. The very creative toastmasters give their speeches as wedding poems filled with the important emotions of the day. The wedding poem is something that will be treasured for many, many years after the big day of the wedding ceremony. These wedding poems will be a piece of the couple's history that they will return to many times during their lives together. Some wedding poems will be better than others. Poetry is not easy to write, but many people like to try. The wedding poetry will differ in quality but probably not in sentiment.
