Gamers Can Compete Online

The Xbox360 was originally conceived a few years before its launch in March, 2005. It enjoyed an early advantage over its competitors by being launched almost a year earlier.

If Xbox360 users wish to download purchasable or promotional content, they need only visit Xbox Live Marketplace - a service offering movie as well as game trailers, game demos as well as Xbox Live Arcade games, and much more. It is believed that as many as 70 per cent of Xbox Live users will download products from Marketplace.

The Xbox360 console's graphical user interface is known as the Xbox360 Dashboard that is a tabbed interface having four “Blades”. The dashboard may be launched automatically on booting up the console or the user may launch it and, it can support Zune as well as an external HD DVD drive attachment. In addition, the Xbox360 has backward compatibility through software emulation of the original Xbox.

The Microsoft Xbox360 provides users with some benefits that were also present in the original Xbox though, it has yet to outperform its rival Sony's PlayStation 2. Their target was to grow their business as well as outperform Sony and, being a well recognized name as well as having a good fan base, the Xbox360 certainly is a stylish consumer electronic gadget that can deliver the goods for Microsoft.

It is smaller than its predecessor and, being wireless, makes it ideal for living rooms – that in itself is a welcome change from past gaming consoles. It has many of the parts of a normal PC on the inside and, looks like a cross between an iPod and DVD player and, is quite a useful device that will provide loads of entertainment, given the wide base of games available for it.
